Beautifully finished 1-3/4" thick Red Oak tree slice, reversible to an 1-1/4" thick Mahogany presentation centerpiece. This "Lazy Susan" has been designed to show off and maximize whatever you place upon it. The turning action is smooth and strong, the entire sculpture weighs in at a hefty ten pounds. Width of the Red Oak is 14-1/2", width of the Mahogany is 11" and total height is 3-1/2".

I carried this piece of Red Oak around for over ten years before he decided what he wanted to be. The strip (also vertical grain) running through him is Pennsylvania Cherry, Black Walnut, and Rock Maple. The Mahogany Base can be used as the top surface when you want emphasis on a central composition, such as a flower arrangement.

Wood is alive. A tree slice will always develop cracks that appear and disappear with the seasons. For example, these photos were taken in winter when the air moisture is at a low; the crack you see in the lower right of the third photo is now open; it will likely close again in the spring. This is normal with a cross-cut piece. As long as it was initially dried and all larger cracks have been addressed (the strip going through eliminated two of them), the piece will last a lifetime.

The finish is food safe pure Tung Oil, and he will be glad to soak in any kind of natural oil you give him over the years. This board is designed to be a permanent heirloom in your home.
